There will be an exhibition called “Out of the box – design made in Israel” together with 70 other activities that include an investment forum with entrepreneurs, workshops, presentations and many networking opportunities. Since Israel is the host this year, you can expect to see many innovative and creative ideas from this country. More information on the event and program can be found here.
This event is also responsible for the launch of the Barcelona Design FESTIVAL 2014 taking place from 2nd June to 10 July
WHEN: Every Wednesday until 8 June
WHERE: Bars and restaurants all over Sant Antoni neighborhood
WHAT: Tapas and drink for €2
Some people come to Barcelona expecting to find the typical tapas bars that they heard about from friends who visited the south of Spain where its normal to receive a tapa (a small, free plate of food) when ordering a drink. The word “tapa” actually means “to cover” and originated when the small plate was placed over the drink when given to the diner. Unfortunately, many are disappointed when they get here and realize that in Catalunya you have to order the tapas separately, and they are usually quite expensive! Once in a while there are however special events such as Tapantoni, where a certain number of bars and restaurants collaborate to offer a drink and tapa for only 2 Euros. To find out which of these establishments are participating in the Sant Antoni neighborhood, have a look at the website.
NIT DE HABANERA
WHEN: 7 June at 21h00
WHERE: The Magic Fountain of Montjuic
WHAT: 25th edition of the Habanera night
When it comes to musical styles from Latin America, one of the most famous is the Habanera which came to Catalonia by sailors and navigators between 18th and 19th century. It originated with those who lived on the sea and who would seek refuge in taverns after a long day´s work or during bad weather and the first to do so were sailors who traveled to the West Indies. Therefore many of the lyrics refer to Havana and all the stories that surround it, including the beauty of the Caribbean, battles at sea and even stories of love. This tradition is no longer confined to those old taverns and proof of this is an event such as the one taking place on 7th June at the Magic Fountain where Habanera will be combined with water and lights display on the fountain and anyone can share in this unique experience. Entry is free and it starts at 21h00
