DANGO BARCELONA – Japanese/Mediterranean cuisine
You have probably tried many different Japanese or Sushi restaurants in Barcelona, but none of them can compare to the unique experience that is Dango Barcelona : a new establishment that opened its doors about 3 months ago, and which we had the pleasure to visit last night! We can highly recommend them for this weekend!
Located in the financial district of Barcelona, as well as one of the major night-time gastronomical centers of the city, Dango caters to a wide variety of guests, and this was very apparent during our visit. We noticed young couples, business professionals enjoying a cocktail after work, and groups of older people, keeping the young spirit alive.
The unique combination of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine was extremely inventive, and the dishes well prepared and presented. We tried Maki Rolls with Philadelphia cheese and beans, croquettes made with the typical Catalan sausage Butifarra, as well as carrot and cucumber fritters and Japanese style burgers with sesame – all very tasty! If you are a fan of Japanese beer, they have the popular Kirin Ichiban available! The service is also something that we should definitely point out – All the staff were extremely hospitable and welcoming, courteous and accommodating.
Upon entering, you will find an impressive bar, where the barman is very proud of his cocktail menu that he specifically created with much attention to detail and effort, in order to maintain the unique idea of mixing Japanese and Mediterranean flavor. Of course they also offer the more classic cocktails such as Mojitos and Margaritas, but we highly recommend that you try one of the more exotic ones, such as the “Barcelona Kiss” that we tried.
Downstairs is another bar with dance floor in typical “lounge style”, where they offer live entertainment such as “Rumba Catalana”, which we unfortunately didn´t get the chance to see, but believe to be something quite unique and entertaining.
They also have a VIP section, which caters for 20 guests, and which is perfect for private events such as birthdays, business events, and Father / Mother´s day. They had a special offer of 50% discount for the ladies on Women´s day, which is very interesting since most restaurants nearly double their prices on these types of days!
For the business executives that work nearby, they also have a daily lunch menu for €12,95, and of course the after-work events on Thursdays, that have become so popular in Barcelona.
Make a plan to visit them this weekend – you will not be disappointed!
