FASHION SHOW, SAILING YACHTS EXHIBITION and AWARD-WINNING MOVIE
Barcelona has always been a hub for fashion design, and has become more and more friendly towards independent designers by hosting a variety of fashion shows and exhibits that specifically showcase the work of these independent designers, giving them the opportunity to prove themselves and make a name. 080 Barcelona Fashion Summer 2013 is the 11th edition of one of these shows, taking place at the Disseny Hub Barcelona building on Plaça de les Glòries until this coming Friday 12 July.
This show will will feature 32 new collections and shows from designers who are competing for the best collection prize which is awarded by an international jury. It is organised by the Generalitat de Catalonia, with creativity and innovation being the inspiration for the event. More information can be found on the website
If sailing is your passion, you can catch the 10th edition of the Puig Vela Classica Barcelona Regatta, starting tomorrow until Saturday in Port Vell. 50 Beautiful vintage (wooden) sailing yachts that were built between 1985 and 1975 can be seen, with races taking place as of Thursday from 13h00. Winner of numerous awards, “Intouchables” is a moving film about the interracial relationship between a rich French quadriplegic, and his African live-in caregiver. Coming from very different worlds and different backgrounds, the unlikely duo form a bonding relationship that is as full of drama as it is of comedy, and offers a different perspective on how events bring different people together under unexpected circumstances. The film will be screened tomorrow night at 22.00 at the Montjuic Open-Air festival, with a Jazz trio entertaining the audience from 20.45.
