FESTIVAL ASIA, FESTA MAJOR de POBLENOU & HIPNOTIK FESTIVAL
WHEN: 18 – 24 September
WHERE: Locations across Barcelona
WHAT: Asian cultural festival
There is something very intriguing about the richness and diversity of the different cultures across Asia. Even if the closest you´ve been to Asian culture is by eating traditional meals from countries such as China, Japan, Vietnam or Thailand, it´s quite obvious that it´s an entirely different world full of color, sights, sounds and very strong traditions that span thousands of years. From 18 September you will have the opportunity to experience many aspects of Asian culture at the Festival Asia – an initiative by Casa Asia which was created with the idea to strengthen knowledge about Asian in Spain. This festival will host a diverse selection of productions from abroad as well as Asian communities within Catalunya, including 150 artists coming from 13 different Asian countries. All of these performances are free (except for “Don Quixote the wandering knight”). The festival will take place mostly on La Plaza Joan Coromines, the MACBA Auditorium, Plaza Dels Àngels, Plaza de la Catedral and Caixa Forum. For more information and the full program, click here.
FESTA MAJOR DEL POBLENOU
WHEN: 12 – 21 September
WHERE: Neighborhood of Poblenou
WHAT: Neighborhood festival
Similar to the other Festa Major celebrations in Barcelona, such as the famous Festa Major de Gracia, you can enjoy local Catalan culture at its best in the neighborhood of Poblenou, starting tomorrow. Poblenou is a very laid-back and up-and-coming neighborhood where you get the feeling of being on Las Ramblas but without thousands of tourists. Instead you see local families strolling down Rambla de Poblenou and enjoying a cold beer at one of the street cafes. All of the neighbors from this area will come together in the streets to celebrate their pride of Poblenou and they will be doing so in true Catalan style by building Castellars (human towers), sharing delicious home-made Catalan dishes and dancing to Catalan music. There will also be concerts and workshops for people of all ages. If you are new to Barcelona and want to experience the city the way locals do, this is a great opportunity to do so!
WHEN: 13 September from 15h00 – 23h00

The event will feature 10 hours of music as well as MC battles, graffiti, breakdancing, competitions and conferences.
