FIESTA DEL CINE & TAST BCN
FIESTA DEL CINE
WHEN: 27 – 29 October WHERE: Various theaters in Barcelona (and rest of Spain) WHAT: Discounted cinema screenings
As easy as it has become to enjoy watching movies at home due to home theater systems, Netflix, fast internet torrents and microwave popcorn, there is still something special about going to a theater to see the latest blockbuster (or indie if you don´t like mainstream Hollywood). Whether you are going to see a film with some friends or your kids, or simply taking your date to the cinema for a snuggle, the silver screen is always a unique experience where you can escape reality for 2 hours and indulge your mind in a different world. With the weather starting to change and outdoor activities becoming more difficult to enjoy, you will be able to enjoy 3 days of discounted cinema at the end of October. Fiesta del Cine offers you the chance to see as many movies as you like for €2.90 per screening. You will need to get accreditation from their website first, after which you can purchase tickets online or at the box office. The website has some suggestions as to which movies to see and also lists all of the cinemas taking part in this event. You can have a look at our list of English cinemas in Barcelona here and find the official website for this event here.
WHEN: 25 – 28 September WHERE: FIRA MONTJUIC (Nearest Metro is Plaza España) WHAT: Tapas exhibition
If you had to ask 10 visitors to Barcelona to name 3 things that stood out for them about Spain, most probably tapas will be on the majority of their lists. This simple, yet truly amazing culinary invention has done so much for Spanish culture. Whether you like patatas bravas (spicy potato wedges), pan con tomate (bread smeared with tomato), pulpo (squid), croquetas, olives, nothing goes better with a cold beer or sangria than a few of these bite-size snacks. They´ve become so popular that there is a “World Tapa Day” on 29 September. San Miguel, one of Spain´s most popular beer brands, are sponsoring the Tast BCN event – the 3rd annual exhibition for tapas that will take place this weekend at Fira Montjuic. The event offers free access and as usual, a selection of bars and restaurants will be presenting the best of their tapas and other culinary creations. Last year the event offered tapas for €1,50 each and beers for €1,00. Presumable it would be the same this year – not a bad way to spend a Saturday or Sunday and sample some of the tastiest tapas and beer that Spain has to offer!
